Vanuat \u2019hot\u2019 say Mama and Leo. \u2019reminds me of Africa\u2019 says Papa. Maybe both are right. It\u2019s warm and it reminds me a little bit of Africa as well. Ok. A mixture of Africa and French Polynesia. The people are so much more laid back than in New Zealand. \u2019The Biosecurity will come in Port Villa,\u2019 says the customer man and tries to call the immigration man on his smartphone. Also, no problem, if he doesn’t come. You\u2019ll just get your stamps in Port Villa as well. However, no problem, the immigration man has already seen Kalibu and wants to earn the 4800 Vatu, which he gets for the stamping. He is also very friendly and even takes us with his Jeep to the bank, after our passports are stamped properly at the small office. By the way the same, through a once white counter parted room, which had three little separated spaces and a desk full of unpacked cartons, addressed to Customs Lenaka Tanna, where we met the customs guy. The bank on the other hand was in excellent condition, comfortably cooled by an air conditioner and the bank employee wore a clean suit along with a green tie. He counted the beautiful money – why are there always just heads on dollars? – three times, before he showed Papa, that he surly hadn’t miscounted himself. At the market Papa bought bananas, papayas and grapefruits. We could also spot some bred fruits and three chickens. If dead or alive was not realisable. We even got wifi, which means Papa bought a sim card and internet from Digicell, even more expensive than in New Zealand, which he pointed out later.<\/span>
\n The next day we went onshore again, me especially to escape the rough Anchorage. After the nine – not precisely quite- days at see I had enough of that. Yet, if I had hoped to get a little relaxation, in front of Lenaka, but no chance. In the City Papa walked from shop to shop searching for 13er stapler needles, me always behind. Also, no chance.8er, yes,12er as well, but 13er? We inquired about the volcano too. At the market, where Papa bought too avocados, someone offered to drive us there for 5000 Vatu – approximately 50 dollars. A sailor from Tahiti, whom we asked had been there yesterday, in the evening. He didn’t regret the 9570 Vatu per person he had to pay for the whole fun. And he had two sons. But for the younger one he only paid 7000. Apparently, there is no barrier, on can go very close and watch lava. Still, 95 dollars per person is quite expensive, and there are the driving costs as well. That makes 482 dollars. We all agree to leave tomorrow morning. Nostalgically I\u2019m giving the volcano – covered in dark ash clouds – a last glance. There really is ash in the air. Kalibu is already completely black and this morning I had to wipe out my muesli bowl. Well, I have to go to Italy then. There are some volcanos too. Though, do they charge there now an entrance fee as well?<\/span>

Vanuatu: \u0092hei\u00df,\u0092 meinen Mama und Leo. \u0092Erinnert mich an Afrika.\u0092 meint Papa. Vielleicht haben beide recht. Es ist warm und auch mich erinnert es ein wenig an Afrika. Ok. eine Mischung aus Afrika und Franz\u00f6sisch Polynesien. Die Menschen sind so viel entspannter als in Neuseeland. Die Biosecurity kommt in Port Villa, sagte der customs man und versucht auf seinem Smartphone den immigration typ zu erreichen. Auch kein Problem, wenn der nicht kommt. Dann bekommen wir unsere Stempel eben auch in Port Villa. Doch kein Problem, der imigration man hat Kalibu schon gesehen und will sich die viertausendachthundert Vatu verdienen, die er f\u00fcrs stempeln bekommt. Ist ebenfalls super nett und nimmt uns sogar in seinem Jeep mit zur Bank, nachdem unsere P\u00e4sse ordnungsgem\u00e4\u00df in dem kleinen B\u00fcro, \u00fcbrigens dasselbe vom customs, gestempelt wurden. Dieser Raum, in der Mitte getrennt von einer ehemals wei\u00dfen Theke, hatte drei abgetrennte, v\u00f6llig zugem\u00fcllte Verschl\u00e4ge, und an der R\u00fcckwand standen unter und auf einem Holztisch lauter unausgepackte Kartons mit der Aufschrift: Customs Lenaka Tanna. Die Bank dagegen war tadellos sauber, von einer Klimaanlage angenehm gek\u00fchlt und der Bankangestellte trug einen sauberen Anzug mit gr\u00fcner Krawatte. Er z\u00e4hlte das wundersch\u00f6ne Geld – warum sind auf Euroscheinen eigentlich immer nur Fenster oder K\u00f6pfe? – dreimal ab, bevor er Papa noch mal vorz\u00e4hlte, dass er sich sicher nicht verrechnet habe. Auf dem Markt kaufte Papa Bananen, Papaya und Pampelmusen, die \u0092gro\u00dfen Zitronen.\u0092 Auch Brotfr\u00fcchte entdeckten wir, kleiner als auf den Atollen und drei H\u00fchner. Ob tot oder lebendig lie\u00df sich leider nicht feststellen. Sogar Internet bekamen wir, das hei\u00dft Papa kaufte eine Simkarte und Internet von Digicel, noch teurer als in Neuseeland, meinte er sp\u00e4ter. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag gingen Papa und ich wieder an Land – ich vornehmlich um dem rolligen Ankerplatz zu entkommen. Davon hatte ich nach der neunt\u00e4gigen, nicht gerade ruhigen \u00dcberfahrt erstmal genug. Doch wenn ich auf Erholung gehofft hatte, vor Lenaka Fehlanzeige. In der Stadt lief Papa von Gesch\u00e4ft zu Gesch\u00e4ft, auf der Suche nach 13er Tackernadeln, ich immer hinterher. Ebenfalls Fehlanzeige. 8er, ja, auch 12er, aber 13er? Auch nach dem Vulkan erkundigten wir uns. Auf dem Markt, wo Papa zwei Avocado kaufte, bot uns jemand an, uns f\u00fcr f\u00fcnftausend Vatu – was etwa f\u00fcnfzig Dollar entspricht – hinzufahren. Ein Segler aus Tahiti, den wir nach dem Vulkan fragten, erz\u00e4hlte, er w\u00e4re erst gestern da gewesen, abends. Er h\u00e4tte es nicht bereut, die neuntausendf\u00fcnfhundertsiebzig Vatu pro Person, die der ganze Spa\u00df wohl kostet, bezahlt zu haben. Und er hat zwei S\u00f6hne. F\u00fcr den j\u00fcngeren seien es aber nur siebentausend gewesen. Man kann wohl ohne Absperrung nah rangehen und sich die brodelnde Lava genau ansehen. Doch f\u00fcnfundneunzig Dollar pro Person ist ganz sch\u00f6n viel, finden wir, und die Fahrkosten kommen ja auch noch dazu. Das summiert sich auf vierhundertzweiundachzig Dollar. Einvernehmlich wird beschlossen, uns morgen fr\u00fch vom Acker zu machen. Wehm\u00fctig werfe ich dem Vulkan, der von dunklen Wolken verh\u00fcllt ist, von denen Mama behauptet, es w\u00e4re Asche, eine letzten Blick zu. Asche ist aber wirklich in der Luft. Kalibu ist schon ganz schwarz und heute morgen durfte ich sogar meine M\u00fcsli Sch\u00fcssel auswischen. Tja, da muss ich wohl nach Italien. Da gibt\u0092s doch auch viele Vulkane.
