Trotz alledem ist es schwer sich der Spannung zu entziehen und so haben auch wir den Zieleinlauf des Volvo Ocean Race nach Auckland beobachtet. Leider hat Birgit nur die Toplichter gesehen, die f\u00fchrenden Boote passierten unseren Ankerplatz um 01:00 Nachts. Im Viadukt Harbour befindet sich das Volvo Ocean Race Village, das wir am Tag darauf besuchten. Es war nicht so voll, wie wir es erwartet h\u00e4tten. Die meisten Besucher ziehen nur am Rand vorbei, bleiben bei den Videoinstallationen und den Autos h\u00e4ngen. general\u00fcberholt. Unglaublich die Logistik. Eine Halle mit mobilen Stores und Werkst\u00e4tten in Containern, gef\u00fcllt mit allem was das Seglerherz sich nach einer langen Ozeanpassage so w\u00fcnscht. Die Boote werden mit Ultraschall untersucht, neu laminiert, lackiert, poliert, alle Winschen gewartet, die Segel \u00fcberholt, etc., etc. Am 9. M\u00e4rz m\u00fcssen sie wieder im Wasser sein, das n\u00e4chste Rennen steht vor der T\u00fcr.<\/p>\n<p>Noch mehr Zahlen. Die Boote sind identisch, haben 66 Fuss (72 incl. bowsprit) und wiegen 12,5 Tonnen. Zum Vergleich Kalibu wiegt 10 Tonnen und die L\u00e4nge \u00fcber alles betr\u00e4gt 45 Fuss. Die Downwind Segelfl\u00e4che der Ocean Boote entspricht zwei Fussballfeldern. Die Ostk\u00fcste von Neuseeland sind sie mit 20 bis 24 Knoten runter gerast. Die Segler d\u00fcrfen 12 kg Gep\u00e4ck an Bord bringen. Gekocht wird auf zwei Campingkochern. Geschlafen auf 5 Betten, die sich die rund 10 Crewmitglieder teilen. Sie kamen in der Nacht und wir konnten nur die wackelnden Toplichter vorbeiziehen sehen. Und wer denkt, dies ist eine europ\u00e4ische Veranstaltung, wegen des vermeintlich schwedischen Sponsors, ist auf dem falschen Dampfer. Volvo geh\u00f6rt zu grossen Teilen der chinesischen Holding Geely. Deshalb der irrwitzige Umweg von Melbourne nach Auckland \u00fcber Hong Kong und sogar ins chinesische Gungzhou. Hierf\u00fcr ist sicher viel Geld geflossen. Im gleichen Zusammenhang kann man auch den Fokus auf &#8222;Plastik in unseren Ozeanen&#8220; besser einordnen. Nat\u00fcrlich geht es um die Aufwertung des Images von Volvo und den anderen Sponsoren. Hier wird ein gutes Gef\u00fchl verkauft. In der Multimedia Pr\u00e4sentation werden zu schlagkr\u00e4ftigen Beats Bilder der Verm\u00fcllung der Ozeane mit Plastik mit den Bildern des Rennens verschnitten. Noch etwas holprig und vor allem ohne konkrete Verpflichtungen und L\u00f6sungsans\u00e4tze. Daneben stehen die dicken SUV\u00b4s von Volvo, der schnelleste Truck der Welt und die neuesten Baumaschienen, alle mit Mineral\u00f6l angetrieben. herrenlose Yacht, die eine Gefahr f\u00fcr die Seefahrt darstellt und auch voll mit Plastik und Diesel Tanks, Motor\u00f6l etc. ist.
