It is well known that Phileas Fogg owed his victory to this phenomenon in the novel &#8222;Around the world in 80 days&#8220;. He crossed the international date line in the other direction, coming from the east and winning the decisive day. \/\/\/\/ We are sailing very slow again, Beaufort 3 from the South, i.e. we sail with 3-5 knots close-hauled course towards the west under a beautiful starry sky. After the continual &#8222;rolling&#8220; movements of Kalibu in the past days, this is a welcomed change. Yesterday we gave Kalibu a sweet water shower, I baked a fresh bread and we are looing forward to arrive in Tonga, the country with the world&#8217;s fattest King \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\u00a0 GERMAN \/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/\u00a0 Pl\u00f6tzlich steht da ein Plus bei der Angabe der Zeit ( UTC+13 ) und kein Minus mehr. Wir haben einen Tag in unserem Kalender \u00fcbersprungen und sind nun im Land der aufgehenden und nicht mehr der untergehenden Sonne. Bekanntlich verdankte Phileas Fogg diesem Ph\u00e4nomen in dem Roman \u201eReise um die Erde In 80 Tagen\u201c den Triumph gegen\u00fcber seinen Wettpartnern. Er \u00fcberschritt die Datumsgrenze in der anderen Richtung, also von Osten kommend und gewann damit den entscheidenden Tag. \/\/\/\/ Wir sind wieder sehr langsam unterwegs; Beaufort 3 aus S\u00fcd, d.h. wir segeln mit 3-5 Knoten am Wind Richtung West unter einem wundersch\u00f6nen Sternenhimmel. Nach den vielen \u201erollenden\u201c Bewegungen des Schiffes in den vergangenen Tagen ist das eine willkommene Abwechslung. The light easterly winds which we had at the beginning of this trip turned to E-S-E and increased considerably. Thus our last etmal (nautical day) was 156 nm. Consequently the seas turned rough and these waves were not welcomed by the crew on board. Now the depression has passed and the wind decreases again. We are discussing our options. Possibly we will stop in Niue and proceed to Tonga later on next week?? \/\/\/\/ Otherwise there is not much to talk about. We have finished the really big Wahoo. A cargo vessel from Kiribati crossed our course a bit to close for my taste. The warning signal of our AIS was sounding alarmingly, I considered an evasion maneuver, just in that moment the vessel adjusted its course. What on earth was this vessel doing on our course to the west anyway? Kiribati is much further north after all. Possibly the personnel on the bridge just wanted to check which flag we are running &#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\u00a0 GERMAN \/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/ Wir steigern uns \ud83d\ude09 die anf\u00e4nglich eher schwachen Winde aus Ost frischten die letzten beiden Tage auf &#8211; in B\u00f6en bis 30 Knoten &#8211; drehte auf Ost-S\u00fcd-Ost und bescherte uns ein ganz ordentliches Etmal von 156 nm. Mit entsprechend rauem Seegang wohlgemerkt, der f\u00fcr wenig Freude an Bord sorgte. Nun ist das Tief durch und der Wind nimmt wieder stetig ab. Wir diskutieren ob wir weiter vor uns her d\u00fcmpeln Richtung Tonga oder noch einen Stopp in Niue einlegen ?? \/\/\/\/ Ansonsten gibt es wenig zu berichten. Der wirklich riesige Wahoo ist aufgegessen. Ein Frachter aus Kiribati kam uns ungem\u00fctlich nahe. Das AIS tutete sein Warnsignal vor sich hin, ich dachte \u00fcber m\u00f6gliche Ausweichman\u00f6ver nach, doch dann \u00e4nderte er seinen Kurs. Was machte der \u00fcberhaupt auf unserem Kurs, frage ich mich. Kiribati liegt schliesslich viel weiter im Norden.
