Die Fahrt durch den Canal Barbara war in mehrfacher Hinsicht beeindruckend. Der sehr enge Paso Shag (wer den Namen wohl vergeben hat?) ist landschaftlich wundersch\u00f6n gelegen. Man passiert erst den Seno Helado, der seinen Namen wohl dem monumentalen Gletscher auf der Isla Santa In\u00e9s verdankt, h\u00e4lt sich n\u00f6rdlich der recht flachen Isla Alcayaga, dicht entlang einer gerade hochstrebenden Felswand, um dann nach etwa einer halben Meile in den Paso Shag abzudrehen. Der ist gerade mal 180 Meter weit und bei Ebbe oder Flut muss das Wasser des Canal Barbara durch diese schmale Passage. Entsprechend unruhig kann das Wasser sein. Wir hatten Gl\u00fcck. Nach unseren Tidentabellen sollte gerade slack water (Stillwasser) sein. Trotzdem zeigten unsere Instrumente kurzzeitig 4-5 Knoten Gegenstrom und auf der Wasseroberfl\u00e4che waren entsprechend viele Wirbel zu erkennen. Wir waren noch nicht ganz durch den Paso durch, da sahen wir die YAO! neben einer Gruppe von Buckelwalen, umringt von vielen Seel\u00f6wen.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-2305 Sie waren offensichtlich auf ein Fischschwarm gesto\u00dfen und gerade dabei sich so viele wie m\u00f6glich davon einzuverleiben. Buckelwale nutzen daf\u00fcr unter anderem auch die Luftblasennetz-Methode. Sie umkreisen den Fischschwarm und sto\u00dfen dabei Luft aus. Es bildet sich ein Netz aus Luftblasen um die Fische herum. Die Wale schwimmen dann von unten mit offenem Maul in das Netz. Die Fische k\u00f6nnen nur schwer entkommen und wenn, dann schnappen die Seel\u00f6wen sie sich.
