Sie wurde\u00a0unter portugiesischer Herrschaft gegr\u00fcndet, war dann Spanisch, um wieder von den Portugiesen erobert zu werden und so weiter&#8230; \u00a0Jedenfalls war die Stadt eine lange Zeit eine bedeutende Handelsstadt und geriet erst ins Hintertreffen, als die Spanier die Ilha Santa Katharina gegen das heutige Uruguay eintauschten. Im Zuge dieses Tauschs haben die Spanier daf\u00fcr gesorgt, dass der damals mit Colonia konkurrierende Hafen von Buenos Aires an Bedeutung gewann und Colonia vergessen wurde. Architektonisch ein Gl\u00fcck, sonst w\u00e4ren die vielen historischen Bauten dem Entwicklungsdruck zum Opfer gefallen.<\/p>\n<p>Dass aber Colonia ein bedeutender Hafen war, kann man sich heute kaum mehr vorstellen. Der Rio de la Plata ist mehr als\u00a0flach. Wie kamen die Schiffe damals hier rein?? Und der gef\u00fcrchtete &#8222;S\u00fcd-Wester&#8220; steht gnadenlos in den Hafen.\u00a0Von der unruhigen Nacht und dem\u00a0\u00fcberschwemmten Anleger\u00a0habe ich ja schon berichtet :\u00a0<a
