gelegenen Insel Ilja de Cairu, steht das dritte Kloster (gegr\u00fcndet so um die1650), das auf brasilianischem Boden errichtet wurde. Wir besuchen die Kirche und unterhalten uns mit einem der drei Franziskanerpater des Klosters. Er spricht kein Englisch und auch kein Deutsch. Wir kein Portugiesisch und auch so gut wie kein Spanisch (dagegen wollen wir unbedingt was unternehmen &#8211; Zoe und ich arbeiten eifrig dran). Klappt trotzdem irgendwie mit H\u00e4nden, Gesten und viel gutem Willen.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr die Portugiesen waren Salvador und Cairu (ca 1500 gegr\u00fcndet) die ersten Anlaufpunkte und sichere H\u00e4fen in der \u201eneuen Welt\u201c. Salvador war dann aber doch einfacher mit gro\u00dfen Schiffen zu erreichen und Cairu wurde aufgegeben. Einige wenige historische Geb\u00e4ude (die meisten in bedauernswertem Zustand) verweisen noch heute auf die historische Bedeutung. Die Inselgruppe ist Teil des gleichnamigen Archipel de Tinhare und liegt an der Costa do Dende, die sich s\u00fcdlich von Salvador erstreckt. Dende verweist auf die vielen \u00d6lpalmen, die es hier gibt.
